Rancher centered, science backed.

Kinger Cattle Company was born with a vision for refining angus genetics to improve operational outcomes for all producers. We know just how important genetics are to improving the quality of cattle and beef across the United States. We’ve been there.

In 1988, Paul and Cheryl Ables began their commercial cattle operation, Kinger Ranch, in Crane, Oregon. For nearly a decade, the Ables worked alongside Ross and Kerry Opie to raise premium beef, creating a trusted brand in the industry. The importance of quality genetics was evident in their cattle, and also in their other ventures.

In 1996, the Ables purchased Mr. Yella Fella, a yearling stallion horse. Mr. Yella Fella won his first of two world titles under the Ables’ ownership. To this day, he is still regarded as a top 10 all-time leading halter sire.

This dedication to excellence was the catalyst for the Ables’ partnership with Ryan Opie, leading to the rebirth of Kinger Cattle Company.

Meet Ryan & Samantha Opie

Ryan Opie was a rancher long before becoming a professional rodeo cowboy. While on the rodeo trail, it became clear to Opie that whether you’re raising cattle in Montana, Texas, Wyoming, or the Pacific Northwest, all producers are looking for an edge.

After retiring from a decade long professional rodeo career, Ryan settled down and married Oregon State Women’s Basketball hall-of-famer Samantha Siegner. Together, the Opies and Ables brought their vision for innovation, passion for serving ranchers, and goal to refine and improve angus genetics forward.

As fierce competitors themselves, the Opies take great pride in ensuring excellence from any animal that wears the crown.
